Mirwaiz for involving Kashmiris in dialogue process
ISLAMABAD (July 04, 2008): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, stressing the need to involve Kashmiris in the dialogue process between India and Pakistan, has emphasised that resolution of Kashmir is imperative for peace and stability in the region of South Asia.



Fresh Tirah valley clashes leave five dead
KARACHI (July 04, 2008): Five people were killed and seven injured in fresh clashes between rival groups in Tirah Valley, a private TV channel reported. On the sixth day of the ongoing violence in the area, shops were closed in Bara Bazar following reports of curfew imposition.



US forces' presence in Pakistan to make situation worse: Ackerman
WASHINGTON (July 04, 2008): A key Democratic Congressman, Gary Ackerman, has urged greater US co-operation with Pakistan and its people as a noted American writer Thursday observed that President Bush's meeting with Prime Minister Gilani on July 28 symbolises great significance in terms of Washington cementing ties with the new democratic government.



Bush to welcome Gilani on July 28
WASHINGTON (July 04, 2008): US President George W. Bush will welcome Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on July 28 for talks on issues including the war on terrorism, the White House announced Thursday. The two will also discuss bilateral co-operation on economic development and regional issues and emphasise "shared objectives" on key issues, Bush spokeswoman Dana Perino told reporters.



Gilani to meet Bush to discuss various issues: foreign office
ISLAMABAD (July 04, 2008): Foreign Office Spokesman Mohammad Sadiq on Thursday ruled out possibility of launching offensive in Pakistani territory by any other country, saying only Pakistani troops are allowed to carry out action on the country's soil. Giving a weekly briefing here, the spokesman said Pakistan's stance has been very clear that no foreign forces will be allowed to take action on its soil.



Commanders urged to focus on professional excellence
RAWALPINDI (July 04, 2008): The 109th Corps Commanders conference was held at General Headquarters on Thursday. The Chief of Army Staff, General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani chaired the meeting. This was a routine monthly conference. According to an ISPR press release issued here, the meeting discussed in detail professional army matters.



Pakistan to maintain minimum credible deterrence: Prime Minister
KARACHI (July 04, 2008): Pakistan is a peaceful country and has no intention to enter into an arms race in the region. This was announced by Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani here on Thursday. He was speaking as chief guest at the 89th Midshipmen Commissioning Parade at the Pakistan Naval Academy, PNS Rahbar.



Gilani to address nation on completion of 100 days
KARACHI (July 04, 2008): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani announced on Wednesday night that he would address the nation on completion of 100 days of his government. "I will take the nation into confidence after 100 days of my government," he said, while speaking at a dinner hosted for him by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah at the Chief Minister's House.



Resolving pending issues: government to help media industry and journalists, says Sherry
KARACHI (July 04, 2008): Federal Information and Broadcasting Minister Sherry Rehman on Thursday said the government and her ministry will provide every possible co-operation to media industry and working journalists to resolve their problems.



Youth development programme from July 15: Qaim
KARACHI (July 04, 2008): Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah on Wednesday announced that the provincial government would launch youth development programme in the name of Pakistan Peoples Party Chairperson Benazir Bhutto from July 15. Under the programme, the educated youth would be inducted /provided jobs after their skill development and training.
