Sacked Employees (Reinstatement) Ordinance 2010 promulgated
ISLAMABAD (February 06, 2010): The President of Pakistan has promulgated an Ordinance to provide relief to persons in corporations, autonomous bodies or in government service who were appointed during the period November 1, 1993 to November 30, 1996 (both days inclusive) and dismissed, removed or terminated or given forced golden handshake during the period November 1, 1996 to December 31, 1998 (both days inclusive) shall be reinstated immediately in service on one scale higher to their substantive scale of post at the time of termination of service and report for duties to their department.



President signs Women Protection Bill
KARACHI (January 30, 2010): President Asif Ali Zardari on Friday signed the bill, providing for increased punishment over harassment of women at workplaces. The Protection against Harassment of Women at Workplace Bill 2009" Criminal Law (Amendment) Bill, 2009 amends both the Pakistan Penal Code and the Code of Criminal Procedure, "increasing the punishment for the crime up to three years in prison and a fine of up to Rs 500,000.



Senate passes Criminal Law (Amendment) Bill amid strong objections
ISLAMABAD (January 21, 2010): The Upper House of the Parliament on Wednesday passed the Criminal Law (Amendment) Bill, 2009 amid strong objections of the religious parties' lawmakers. The Bill already passed by the Lower House of the parliament in its last session was moved by Law Minister Baber Awan in the Senate.



Supreme Court cites Marcos as reference: detailed judgement in NRO case released
ISLAMABAD (January 20, 2010): The Supreme Court on Tuesday issued detailed judgement on the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) of 2007 promulgated by former President Pervaiz Musharraf and held that unbridled powers to amend the Constitution cannot be given to the Chief Executive even during the transitional period and even on the touchstone of 'State necessity'.

TEXT (December 17, 2009): A larger bench of Supreme Court here Wednesday declared NRO as null and void as it violated various constitutional provisions as a law void ab-initio.

ISLAMABAD (November 28, 2009): President Asif Ali Zardari on Friday promulgated Pakistan Penal Code (Amendment) Ordinance, 2009.



President promulgates FPSC (Amendment) Ordinance
ISLAMABAD (November 28, 2009): President Asif Ali Zardari has promulgated the Federal Public Service Commission (Amendment) Ordinance, 2009, further amending the Federal Public Service Commission Ordinance, 1977. The Ordinance called as the Federal Public Service Commission (Amendment) Ordinance, 2009 will come into force at once and to be deemed to have taken effect on and from September 15, 2007.



President promulgates Supreme Court Judges (Leave, Pension and Privileges) (Amendment) Order, 2009
ISLAMABAD (November 21, 2009): President Asif Ali Zardari on Friday promulgated the Supreme Court Judges (Leave, Pension and Privileges) (Amendment) Order, 2009, further amending the Supreme Court Judges (Leave, Pension and Privileges) Order, 1997, (P.O. No 2 of 1997).



President signs Gilgit-Baltistan Ordinance 2009
ISLAMABAD (September 08, 2009): President Asif Ali Zardari has signed the Gilgit-Baltistan (Empowerment and Self-Governance) Order 2009 aimed at introducing far-reaching administrative, political, financial and judicial reforms in the Northern Areas. The order would replace the 'Northern Areas Legal Framework Order (LFO) 1994'.
