Green Energy Wind Power Project: Pakistan and South Korean consortium sign MoU
ISLAMABAD (February 07, 2010): Pakistan and a Korean consortium of Hyundai have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) under which the companies would invest on 50 MW Green Energy Yuna Wind Power Project in Jhimpir, Sindh.



Rs 14 billion NFEP project: government to set aside PPRA rules
ISLAMABAD (February 06, 2010): The government is to legitimately set aside Public Procurement Regulatory Authority's (PPRA) rules for a Rs 14 billion Nuclear Fuel Enrichment Plant (NFEP) project to be executed by the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) as Finance Ministry showed unwillingness to violate the prescribed criteria for release of funds, well-informed official sources told Business Recorder.



IFC to provide $400 million for energy, infrastructure
DUBAI (February 06, 2010): The International Finance Corporation (IFC) has a target of providing a financing facility upto 400 million dollars to Pakistan during the current year to fund energy and infrastructure projects. This was stated by IFC Manager Infrastructure Advisory Services Moazzam Mekan while talking to media after delivering a presentation on IFC's working at the "special session on Pakistan" on the second day of board of directors meeting of World Federation of Consuls (FICAC) here on Friday.



CNG installations: government may make HDIP exclusive authority for inspection
ISLAMABAD (February 06, 2010): The government may do away with the role of private companies pertaining to inspection of CNG installations, granting full checking/inspection rights to Hydrocarbon Development Institute of Pakistan (HDIP) for generating more revenue, Business Recorder has learnt.



Illegal grant of LPG quotas from Dhodak field: Petroleum ministry to approach NAB for resuming cases
ISLAMABAD (February 05, 2010): Ministry of Petroleum has decided to approach National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to resume cases for which references had already been filed in NAB regarding illegal grant of LPG quotas from Dhodak field after Supreme Court's decision on National Reconciliation Order (NRO).



'No gas load shedding for CNG stations from March'
ISLAMABAD (February 05, 2010): Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Syed Naveed Qamar announced on Thursday that there will be no gas load shedding for CNG stations from March 2010. Naveed added that the government would also reduce gas load shedding for CNG stations from two to one day a week from February 15.

ISLAMABAD (February 05, 2010): This refers to a news item "OGDC, SNGPL misleading Ministry" carried by Business Recorder on February 1, SNGPL has mobilised its responses at site and has started execution of work after obtaining all those drawings from OGDCL which are currently needed to gear up the job.



Investment in hydel power projects: Korean company team calls on Prime Minister
ISLAMABAD (February 05, 2010): A delegation of Daewoo Engineering Company of Korea led by Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Yang-Kyung Cho called on the Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani here on Thursday and discussed possibilities of his company's participation in the hydel power projects.



14 new RPPs will not end load shedding: minister
LAHORE (February 05, 2010): The addition of 14 RPPs, generating 1,994MW electricity, will not eliminate load shedding completely, said the Federal Minister for Water and Power Raja Pervaiz Ashraf while briefing the Standing Committee on Water and Power. He further stated that the tariff difference between RFO fuel IPPs and RFO fuel RPPs is 2.55 cents. A meeting of the Standing Committee on Water and Power was held at WAPDA House, Lahore with MNA Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah in the chair.



Coal washing plant to be set up at Lakhra coalfields
KARACHI (February 05, 2010): Sindh government has decided to establish the coal washing plant at Lakhra coalfields, district Jamshoro, to remove impurities and reduce import of coal after developing its good quality, Business Recorder learnt on Thursday.
