Rs 14 billion NFEP project: government to set aside PPRA rulesISLAMABAD (February 06, 2010): The government is to legitimately set aside Public Procurement Regulatory Authority's (PPRA) rules for a Rs 14 billion Nuclear Fuel Enrichment Plant (NFEP) project to be executed by the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) as Finance Ministry showed unwillingness to violate the prescribed criteria for release of funds, well-informed official sources told Business Recorder.

IFC to provide $400 million for energy, infrastructureDUBAI (February 06, 2010): The International Finance Corporation (IFC) has a target of providing a financing facility upto 400 million dollars to Pakistan during the current year to fund energy and infrastructure projects. This was stated by IFC Manager Infrastructure Advisory Services Moazzam Mekan while talking to media after delivering a presentation on IFC's working at the "special session on Pakistan" on the second day of board of directors meeting of World Federation of Consuls (FICAC) here on Friday.

'No gas load shedding for CNG stations from March'ISLAMABAD (February 05, 2010): Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Syed Naveed Qamar announced on Thursday that there will be no gas load shedding for CNG stations from March 2010. Naveed added that the government would also reduce gas load shedding for CNG stations from two to one day a week from February 15.

14 new RPPs will not end load shedding: ministerLAHORE (February 05, 2010): The addition of 14 RPPs, generating 1,994MW electricity, will not eliminate load shedding completely, said the Federal Minister for Water and Power Raja Pervaiz Ashraf while briefing the Standing Committee on Water and Power. He further stated that the tariff difference between RFO fuel IPPs and RFO fuel RPPs is 2.55 cents. A meeting of the Standing Committee on Water and Power was held at WAPDA House, Lahore with MNA Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah in the chair.

Coal washing plant to be set up at Lakhra coalfieldsKARACHI (February 05, 2010): Sindh government has decided to establish the coal washing plant at Lakhra coalfields, district Jamshoro, to remove impurities and reduce import of coal after developing its good quality, Business Recorder learnt on Thursday.
