Abdul Sattar Edhi was a well-known Pakistani philanthropist, social activist, ascetic, and humanitarian of Pakistan. Edhi determined to dedicate his life to help and aiding the poor, and over his sixty years of life, he single handedly changed the face of welfare in Pakistan.
Recently, during England tour Pakistani players requested to the people through video message to continue supporting efforts done by Edhi foundation after the philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi’s death and take up responsibility for it, local media reported.
Pakistan All-rounder Mohammad Hafiz said in his video, “Now, it is our responsibility, not only as Pakistanis but also as good human beings to support this foundation, and work towards the betterment of the poor.”
Likewise Pakistan T20 captain Sarfaraz Ahmed said, “We should all support Edhi Foundation so that it can carry on working like it did during Edhi’s lifetime.”
Pakistan middle order batsmen Asad Shafiq said, “We all need to support the Edhi Foundation, so that it continues its social work,” he said. “It is our responsibility now.”
Previously, both Pakistan and Sussex teams observed a minute’s silence as a mark of tribute for the humanitarian Abdul Sattar Edhi. The Pakistan team also wore black armbands, and collectively offered a prayer for late Pakistani philanthropist.
Furthermore, as per the latest buzz, the Edhi Foundation logo will embellish Pakistan cricket team kits during Pakistan-England series. According to a PCB official, the Pakistani cricket team would be seen wearing the Edhi logos on their jerseys during the ODI and T20 series of the tour against England.
According to schedule, ODI series between Pakistan and England will commence from August 24. Pakistan has already started its England tour with a four-match Test series which is started from July 14.
