WhatsApp introduces exciting new features yet again
The popular texting application WhatsApp is ready to introduce a few new features, one of which is the option of ‘group description’.
WhatsApp is reportedly testing a new feature that will let you add a description to your groups. The feature is being tested on Android beta version and Windows beta version of the app.
For the ‘Group Description’ feature, the user would just have to tap on the name of the group. Under the group picture option, a new option will appear for adding a description of the group. As soon as the description is added, a notification appears on the group informing that the person has added a description. Similarly, a notification appears when the description is removed, reported Indian Express.
WhatsApp’s new feature will let people send money digitally
The maximum character limit for the description is 500 characters. Though the description can also be added by other members of the group who are not the admin, reports suggest that the Facebook owned app will restrict the access to add descriptions only to group admins, states WhatsApp watchdog WABetaInfo that first spotted the feature.
The feature is currently available for selected users and is soon expected to be available for iOS too. The new feature has probably been introduced to brief the new members about the group before they join it.
According to Live Mint, WhatsApp is also trying a group calling feature. Also, another feature the app recently incorporated was the ability to switch to video calls during a voice call with a switch button, without the need to disconnect the call. The person on the other side will be sent a notification and if it is accepted, the call would be converted to video call.
