The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Tuesday has further liberalised the foreign exchange regime by exempting the educational course books for the overseas Pakistani students.
The SBP issued a circular saying that it has been decided to bring literary, religious, educational and general books in the sphere of exemption granted earlier subject to the condition that the value of the individual shipment/export does not exceed $10,000.
In June 2003, the SBP had issued a circular wherein export of educational books for schools and colleges for Pakistani students and other running under respective embassies abroad were given exemption from the e-form procedure.
Instructions issued in the circular in June 2003, regarding endorsement by the Customs on No Objection Certificate (NOC) of each shipment and submission or reporting to FEOD, SBP-BSC (Bank) would continue as existing for the purpose of the new circular.
