The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday observed that the shopkeepers who are engaged in overcharging deserve no leniency and must face legal action.
Justice Khawaja Sharif of LHC gave these remarks while rejecting pre-arrest bail applications of butchers of Tolington market Sheikh Shahzad, Naseem and Sheikh Muhammad Saleem, here.
A case was registered against the butchers under food control act when food department officials of district government Lahore found them selling meat at the rate of Rs 200 per kg against the officially fixed price of Rs 150 per kg.
Bail applications of the butchers were already rejected by the session court.
The court observed that the butchers are plundering money from public as prices of meat have gone beyond the purchasing power of common man.
