The Pakistan Film Industry is observing a countrywide indefinite strike from Thursday to press the government to accept its demands.
The strike is being observed on the call of Pakistan Film Exhibitors Association, Pakistan Film Producers Association, Pakistan Film Director Association, Pakistan Film Distributors Association, Movie Artists Association of Pakistan and Cinema Owners Association of Pakistan.
The five-point charter of demands includes permission for exchange of feature films between Pakistan and India, ending video piracy of films with strict implementation of the Copy Right Act, bringing cable operator under a legal discipline by banning the screening of pirated Indian and Pakistani movies, lowering the entertainment tax on cinema houses and declaring film as an industry.
