A five-member delegation of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) led by its Chief Mian Anjum Nisar called on the visiting Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmonov here at State Guest House on Friday.
Tajik President informed the delegation about vast opportunities of joint ventures exist in his country. He also invited the LCCI members for making investment in such ventures which was accepted by the LCCI chief.
According to a press release, Anjum Nisar expressed the desire of holding a single country exhibition in Tajikistan city 'Daushanba' in third week of June which was accepted by the Tajik President and he assured all out assistance in this regard.
He also said that he himself would inaugurate this exhibition of the LCCI.
Anjum Nisar also appealed to the Tajik President for issuing more facilities in issuing visas to Pakistani traders, besides reasonable reduction in visa fee.
He also called for exchanging delegations between the two countries to point out areas of co-operation and trade. He said that Pakistan was importing dry fruit, wood and cotton products from Tajkistan while exporting fruits, textile products and medicines. However, he said, there was great need for increasing bilateral volume of trade between the two countries.
He said that air link should also be established between the two countries for enhancing trade relations. He said that Pakistan could import cheaper electricity from Tajikistan, which was the 8th largest producer of electricity in the world.
Other members of the delegation included LCCI Senior Vice-President Mian Misbah-ur-Rehman, Vice-President Shahzad Ali Malik, Mian Shafqat and Ahsen Mehmood Butt.
