"Humanity has come of age and the majority of people want the nations of the world to live in peace and harmony. Many are those who deeply desire to trust their fellowmen and live their lives without fear," it was stated by Chairman National Commission for Human Development Dr Naseem Ashraf.
He was addressing at the inaugural ceremony of three-day International Peace Festival (IPF) hosted by Rotaract Clubs of Pakistan in collaboration with Rotaract Clubs of India, Alliance Francaise, British Council and Italian Cultural Centre.
Azfar Ahan, President Rotaract Clubs of Pakistan; Yohik Bukhto, Counsel General of France; Bruno Cruskino, Counsel General of Italy; Ali Akhtar, District Governor; Tayaba Ahad, Chairman Rotary Inner-wheel Clubs also spoke on the occasion.
Dr Naseem said: "If there is love in the soul, there will be harmony in the person. If there is harmony in person there will be order in nation. If there is order in the nation, there will be peace in the world."
He further said: "It is not a crime to be of a different colour or race but it is a crime to think of the other less privileged than oneself. We say this because discrimination gnaws at peace and diminishes it to nothing. We, as a peace-loving nation, rebuke any prejudice or inequity."
Counsel Generals of Italy and France have also stressed to promote "Vision for peace and goodwill" among the nations and strengthen friendly relationship with the neighbours.
They appreciated President Musharraf's efforts in promoting peace with India. Both the Counsel Generals applauded Rotaract Clubs of Pakistan for organising first-ever International Peace Festival in Pakistan in order to propagate peace message among the youth of nations.-PR
