Governor Punjab, Lieutenant General Khalid Maqbool (Retd) has expressed his resolve to keep the educational institutions free from politics Talking to the teachers and participants of Tennis match in staff club of the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF), he said that students are our future assets but some vested interests were trying to use them for their own political objectives.
He said that President General Pervez Musharraf has given a clear guideline to keep the educational institutions free from politicking and no body would be allowed to play with the future of the younger generation. He hoped that students as well as their parents would behave sensibly and reject the elements trying to exploit them for their own personal interests.
The governor also endorsed the decision of the university administration to expel the students who were trying to create law and order situation at the campus. "Being chancellor of the university, I fully support this decision", he said and added that nobody would be allowed to disturb peaceful educational atmosphere.
Underlining the importance of co-curricular activities, the governor said that these healthy activities must be encouraged for the character building of the students.
