The lineup of vessels to load sugar in Brazil's ports was 40, unchanged from a week ago, shipping agent Williams said on Thursday. In a weekly report, Williams said 19 vessels were lined up in the southern port of Santos, against 20 last week. In the north-eastern ports of Recife and Maceio there were 7 and 6 vessels, respectively, compared with 7 in both ports last week. Cane harvesting is virtually finished in the north-east but the center-south state of Parana recently started to cut the 2005 cane crop.
Santos accounted for 59 percent of sugar tonnage being loaded in Brazilian ports, with Recife at 14 percent and Maceio at 15 percent.
