Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Friday said Khushhal Pakistan Fund will have an immediate and direct impact on the standard and quality of life of people particularly in the less developed areas.
Chairing a meeting here at Prime Minister's House, he said the work on 1000 schemes related to provision of clean drinking water, sanitation, farm to market roads, infrastructure strengthening, health, education and income generation has been initiated and so far 4280 schemes, projects has been prepared under the programme.
The Prime Minister reviewed the progress of the programmes launched under the Khushal Pakistan Fund.
The Prime Minister said it is focusing both on the mega and micro development projects to ensure balanced growth, more economic opportunities and livelihood facilities for the neglected strata of the community in urban and rural areas to bring improvement in their living standards.
"Khushal Pakistan Fund will lead to more prosperous, vibrant and dynamic Pakistan through filling in development gaps", the Prime Minister said.
The Prime Minister approved expansion of the scope of the projects to be undertaken under the Khushal Pakistan Fund to allow construction of additional rooms, water and sanitation facilities, boundary walls in schools, teachers accommodation, wherever it is required and roads connecting villages. He said the projects should be approved in a transparent manner adding that extensive scrutiny of the projects should be done before approval and all formalities should be observed.
Muhammad Arif Yaqub the CEO of Khushal Pakistan Fund gave a detailed presentation about progress in the Programme. He informed that so far 2.9 billion rupees have been disbursed to carry out the development work under the programme. He said Rs 100 million have been released to 27 districts of Balochistan and Rs 200 million to Quetta.
