Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Muhammad Ali Durrani has said that people of Balochistan have reposed full confidence in the leadership of President General Pervez Musharraf and acknowledged his steps for the development of their province.
Talking to newsmen after launching Clean Pakistan Campaign here on Sunday, he said thousands of Balochs including women at Musharraf's recent public meeting in Quetta had expressed their full support to Musharraf's policies. They wanted to see Pakistan as prosperous and strong, he said. They altogether rejected all forces, which were by and large opposing the development process of the country, he added. To a question the minister said that interim government would be formed according to the Constitution and the next general elections would be held on time.
He also questioned the opposition's tall claims of resignations, the dictatorship within the party and one party domination in their alliances. He further said they would also expose the opposition before the masses during the election campaign.
Durrani said government was keeping a constant liaison with all parliamentary parties and considering them in all matters.
Durrani ruled our any deal or alliance with Pakistan People's Party (PPP) adding that no citizen of Pakistan including Asif Ali Zardari were being implicated in fake cases.
To a query, he said President General Pervez Musharraf had fulfilled all constitutional requirements assuring that if anybody had any objection in this regard, he could move the courts. He made it clear that country's courts were independent.
Responding to a question, the minister said that present status of Dr Qadeer Khan was in the interest of Pakistan. To an another question Durrani said Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and Sindh Chief Minister had discussed the Karachi island issue, adding, that all the stakeholders would be taken into confidence in this regard.
Meanwhile, Federal Information Minister Muhammad Ali Durrani launched 'Clean Pakistan Campaign' in Allama Iqbal Town here on Sunday.
Addressing on this occasion the minister said, the campaign was being launched by National Volunteer Movement (NVM) in collaboration with federal and Punjab governments in union councils No 103 and 104.
The minister said that volunteers including students of University of Central Punjab (UCP), Punjab University (PU) and an NGO Akhuwat would create awareness among people about their social responsibilities. They would also participate in the cleanliness of roads, streets, parks and other public places of these areas to make them a model for other union councils of the country.
"The campaign is the first step towards cleaning our country on self help basis and this will bring a positive change in human behaviour in our society," he observed.
