A Court on Tuesday granted six-day physical remand to two policemen of Islamabad Police, the guards of Rashid Rauf a British national, for helping him escape from police custody. Margalla police presented two cops Muhammad Tufail and Nawabzada before the court of Special Judge Central, Shaukat Ali Sajid here.
ASI Abdul Sattar pleaded for grant of seven-day physical remand of the two cops to investigate the matter. The learned judge, after hearing the plea of Islamabad Police, granted six-day physical remand of the accused and handed them over to Margalla Police for further investigation.
Two uncles of Rashid Rauf, Muhammad Rafiq and Muhammad Zahoor, who were also arrested, were not presented in the court. Margalla Police registered the case against the accused under sections 223, 224, 128, 161, 162, 109 and 5/2-47 of the Pakistan Penal code.
Meanwhile, police sources told this scribe that the accused (Nawabzada and Muhammad Tufail) told investigators that after hearing in Islamabad District Courts, they were way back to Adiala Jail Rawalpindi, when Rashid Rauf offered them to have burger in a famous fast food restaurant in Rawalpindi. Rauf also asked for offering prayers and managed to escape from the custody, they said.
