Parliamentary Committee on National Security (PCNS) has summoned Defence and Foreign ministers, advisor to the prime minister on interior and director general Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) to brief the committee on security situation in its next meeting.
Chairman of the committee Senator Raza Rabbani said this here on Thursday after the committee held its first formal meeting. The earlier meetings of the committee were aimed at framing terms of reference (TORs) and rules of business, he added.
Rabbani said the second meeting of the committee would be held in the first week of December. He said that the committee members showed their concern on Wednesday missile strike in Bannu. "We warn US that military adventurism inside Pakistan will not be tolerated. The US strikes create anxiety among people of Pakistan," said Rabbani who is also federal minister for Inter-provincial Co-ordination.
He said that government should raise the matter of missile strikes internationally. All the diplomatic channels should be used to stop these strikes, said Rabbani. He warned that the government could use other options apart from registering protest with the US.
He said the political reconciliation process would continue in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata). The government would use every option to peacefully resolve Fata problems. He said that committee, in its next meeting, will also discuss the plight of internally displaced persons (IDPs).
