Ahmed Shehzad surpasses Shahid Afridi
Opener Ahmed Shehzad has become the fourth highest T20I runs scorer for Pakistan, surpassing legendary all-rounder Shahid Afridi.
The 26-year-old achieved this feat during the third and decisive Twenty20 International (T20I) against New Zealand in Mount Maunganui on Sunday.
He surpassed Afridi’s 1,405 runs and has now 1,416 T20I runs to his name, after the right-hand batsman scored 19 runs in the final match. Shehzad is also the only Pakistani batsman to have centuries in all three formats of the game.
Shoaib Malik is the highest T20I run getter for Pakistan with 1,821 runs, followed by Umar Akmal (1,690) and Mohammad Hafeez (1,658).
It is worth mentioning here that the Green Shirts defeated the Blackcaps to win the three-match series and also became number one T20I team.
