The famous social media messaging app, WhatsApp, has recently launched a new payment feature on its beta version that lets digital person-to-person payment in the app.

Not long ago, WhatsApp launched its Business app for business purposes and now it has launched its new payment feature that will let people send money to other WhatsApp users. The new payment feature is available in beta version and has only been launched in India till now. Sources familiar with the company informed that the feature, however, has not yet been announced publicly and is available for selected WhatsApp beta users in India.

According to Tech Crunch, WhatsApp has been working on the payments feature for quite a while. The feature will take advantage of Indian government’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI) by partnering with few Indian banks including State Bank of India, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, and Axis Bank.

WhatsApp bug allows anyone to access your group chats

The beta testers of the new feature verified that the feature is live and contains a list of banks in its user interface. The feature appears in the newer setting menu and in order to make use of it, the users would have to verify their number and then choose a bank from the given options. The option to send payments will then be available in the attachments area.

As per NDTV, the feature is available for both iOS and Android users, with the help of which, they can send and receive money digitally.
