Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) alleged that load shedding by Karachi Electric Supply Company at its pumping stations has severely affected judicious and fair supply of water to different parts of the city.
In a statement here on Sunday, KWSB spokesman said that power supply has been disconnected, either in the name of load shedding or technical faults, to its water pumping stations for the last one week.
He said pumping stations at different places including Dhabeji, Gharo, Damloti, North East Karachi and Hub are facing two-to-three hours' power cut every day for the last one week.
He said that water demand generally rises at the start of summer in the city and KWSB staff is stationed and alerted at pumping stations to ensure the uninterrupted water supply to citizens.
He said KWSB management has urged KESC to avoid any power cut to its pumping stations and depute its technical staff there to rectify any technical fault and ensure uninterrupted power supply to these stations.
