Academic Linkage programme would be initiated between University of Sindh and University of Tehran to promote research in Persian language. This was agreed in a meeting between Acting Vice Chancellor University of Sindh Professor Dr Parveen Shah and Director of the Cultural Centre of Islamic Republic Iran, Hyderabad Syed Karim Pormani, who is also Persian scholar, here on Thursday.
The acting VC welcomed the Iranian scholar and briefed about the University's academic and research programmes. She said that the university was also offering degree programme in Persian language under its Institute of Languages. In the meeting, it was agreed in principal that Persian Chair would be established in Institute of Languages to promote Persian language and literature and academic linkages between University of Sindh and University of Tehran too. The meeting further decided that diploma certificate course in Persian language would be introduced in the Institute of Languages of the University.
It was also decided that promising project for setting up of the language laboratory in the University of Sindh would be expedited and efforts would be made to furnish the project. Syed Karim Pormani thanking to Acting Vice Chancellor Dr Parveen Shah, Director Institute of Languages Dr Hafiz Abdul Ghanni Shaikh for their warm welcome said that the Sindh had played key role for promotion of Persian language and literature. He said that Pir Hussamuddin Rashid was scholar of Persian whose vital role in promotion of culture and literature and Persian language could not be forgotten. He further said that Pir Hussamuddin Rashdi had made key efforts for strengthening friendship and literary relations between scholars of Pakistan and Iran.
