Pak-China co-operation must for realisation of PWD's rights: Liu Jian

Ambassador of China Liu Jian on Sunday said the co-operation between China and Pakistan was essential for the realisation of rights of persons with disabilities (PWDs).
Addressing children with disabilities at Children Festival organised by the Directorate General of Special, Education and Social Welfare DG (SE&SW) at Fatima Jinnah Park here, he hoped two countries would make a meaningful contribution in the lives of persons with disabilities.
He said that Pakistan and China had shared interests in the promotion of peace and development.
The Chinese Ambassador visited the Children Festival and mixed up with children with disabilities in order to support and encourage them.
Liu Jian appreciated the efforts of the DG (SE&SW) for providing children with disabilities an opportunity to exhibit their skills, explore talents and enjoy recreational facilities. Liu Jian donated Rs 200,.000 as a gesture of support for the children with disabilities and reaffirmed the strong relationship between China and Pakistan.
Liu Jian said, "the care of disabled children is a great and noble undertaking.
Mustafain Kazmi Director General (SE&SW) said that China is the only tried, tested and trusted friend of Pakistan who always stood behind us during the time and no doubt our friendship is taller than the Himalayas and deeper than the Oceans.
He emphasised the need for enhancing co-operation among different stakeholders by involving the private sector for the welfare and rehabilitation of Persons with disabilities as it would be difficult for government to carry out welfare activities alone.
The Children Festival was inaugurated by the Federal Minister for CA&D Nazar Muhammad Gondal. Secretary Capital Administration and Development Division (CA&DD) Imtiaz Inayat Elahi said that holding of festival for children with disabilities, play healthy and pivotal role in personality development and behaviour modification of such-children.
The children festival has provided an opportunity to children with disabilities to enjoy recreational activities and take part In all the performance and activities so that their hidden talent could be entered.
