Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived here on a three-day official visit on Sunday. During his three-day visit to the country, the Turkish Prime Minister will meet Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani and leadership of various political parties to discuss the entire gamut of bilateral relations, including the regional situation vis-à-vis Afghanistan.
Upon his arrival at the Benazir International Airport, the Turkish Prime Minister was received by Minister for Administration and Development Division Nazar Mohammad Gondal and Senator Sughra Imam.
He was accompanied by the first Turkish lady and a high-powered Turkish delegation. During his visit, Erdogan will also co-chair the second high level Pak-Turk Co-operation Council meeting along with Prime Minister Gilani. It is expected that five agreements of co-operation between the two countries will also be signed during the visit. After the delegation level talks, the two primers would also address a joint news conference. Erdogan is visiting Pakistan for the fifth time.
The Turkish Prime Minister will hold important talks with the Pakistani leadership to further cement Pak-Turkish ties and give boost to mutual co-operation in various fields.
He would also address joint sitting of the Parliament summoned by the President for Monday (today) at 5:00 pm.
Tayyip Erdogan is one of two world leaders who will have the distinction to address Pakistani Parliament twice. Earlier‚ former Turkish President Kenan Evren had addressed the Parliament twice.
Erdogan will be the seventh world leader to address Pakistan's Parliament. He had also addressed the joint-sitting of the Parliament during his visit to the country in October 2009.
On Monday (today), Prime Minister Gilani will host a banquet in honour of his Turkish counterpart at the PM House where he (Erdogan) would have an opportunity to meet the political leadership of the country that have also been invited by the Prime Minister to the banquet.
