Federal Minister for National Regulations and Services Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan along with religious scholar Khanam Tayyaba Bokhari called on Iranian President Mahmud Ahmedinajad. The Iranian President discussed wide range of issues at length with the minister, including economic, social, cultural, religious and health, said a release on Sunday.
Ahmedinajad expressed complete solidarity with the government and the people of Pakistan. He said that Iran and Pakistan shared a long history of friendship and the Iranian people would always stand by Pakistan in all times of need.
Dr Firdous expressed gratitude for all the Iranian help and support for the people of Pakistan. The meeting lasted over an hour in which the President directed his Cultural Minister to prepare an official document for supporting Iqbal Cultural Centre at Sialkot. The President also directed Iranian Health Minister to foster further relations in the field of pharmaceutical industry and make use of each other's technologies.
The President said that women play a significant role in socio-political and economic development and there is a need to enhance women-to-women contact between two countries. The President also appreciated Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan and Khanam Tayyaba Bokhari for playing productive role in improving the relationship between two countries.
