The capital police have rounded up a gang of kidnappers and recovered an abducted businessman safely from their custody. He was kidnapped in the limits of Kohsar Police Station on May 9.
"Saeed Yousaf a resident of House No 8, Street No 39, Sector F-6/1 informed the Kohsar Police Station on May 9 that his father Muhammad Yousaf the owner of 'Mr Books' shop had been kidnapped by unidentified persons from Supper Market, said Inspector General of Police (IGP) Bani Amin Khan while addressing a press conference at Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) here on Thursday.
He said that the kidnapers were demanding Rs 25 million from his daughter as ransom and threatened to kill him in case police was informed. The IGP said that Islamabad police started investigation into the case after registration of a case on behalf of Saad Yousuf, the son of abductee.
He said that Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Muhammad Yousuf Malik was assigned special task for his recovery and special team headed by Superintendent of Police (SP) (City) Muhammad Ilyas including Station House Officer (SHO) Inspector Fiaz Ahmed Tanoli, Inspector Raja Rahat and other police officials was constituted. The police team ensured surveillance at various points at the outer cordon of twin cities and succeeded in reaching the house in outskirts of the city where the abducted person was kept.
The IGP said that four kidnappers, including a woman were arrested when policemen headed by SP (City) Muhammad Ilyas entered the house in guise of common men. The nabbed persons have been identified as ring leader Haji Ehsan-ul-Haq, Manzoor Ahmed and Sheikh Shakeel-ur-Rehman.
He said the busted group of kidnappers has also been involved in various criminal activities in KPK, Rawalpindi and other districts. He also appealed the citizens not to get trapped by the women as criminal gangs along with female accomplices are committing crimes of various nature in the city. SSP Islamabad Muhammad Yousuf Malik, SP (City) Muhammad Ilyas, officers and ICCI chairman Munawar Mughal were also present on the occasion.
