Police arrested five felons including two notorious Lyari gangsters and a target killer in separate raids from different area of the metropolis here on Wednesday. According to SSP West Aamir Farooqui, police on a tipoff conducted a raid in Metroville area and arrested two alleged Lyari gangsters along with weapons.
He said the accused, Umar and Rana, who were allegedly involved in the killings of two police constables namely Haris and Irfan in Mochko police remits on May 17, 2012, were associated with one of the notorious Lyari gangs. He said that police had also recovered two police SMGs, two TT pistols and several rounds from them. He said the accused were also involved in several other heinous crimes including police encounters, target killings, kidnappings, etc. Further investigation was underway.
Separately, two criminals were taken into custody after a brief encounter at Rashid Minhas road near Gulshan roundabout in the limits of Gulshan-e-Iqbal police station on early Wednesday. SHO Shehzada Saleem said the a police party during routine patrolling on early Wednesday intercepted a bike (KEY-8625) for snap checking. Meanwhile, the pillion riders opened indiscriminate fire on police.
Police retaliated the fire and arrested the accused, Muhammad Ali son of Haji Ali and Jan son of Akram with weapons. He said the police had also recovered two TT pistols and a snatched bike from them. The cases (336, 337 and 338) were registered under sections 353 and 324 against them. Further investigation is in progress. Similarly, the Crime Investigation Department (CID) also claimed to have arrested an alleged target killer namely Mujahid Khan alias Khano son of Haibat Khan with weapon form the limits of Jackson police station. SSP Fayyaz Khan said the accused person during initial course of investigation confessed to have killed Badshah Khan and Lal Jan bibi in Sohrab Goth police remits. Further investigation is underway.
