National Re-unification Day of Republic of Yemen was celebrated on May 22 at a local hotel, hosted by their Consul General Dr Mirza Ikhtiar Baig. The ceremony was attended by Speaker Sindh Assembly Nisar Khoro with large number of ministers, diplomats, dignitaries, business leaders, leaders of Bohri community and elite of the city.
The prominent ones were British Deputy High Commissioner Francis Campbell, Consul General of Morocco, Ishtiaq Baig, SM Muneer, CGs of Saudi Arabia, UAE, Germany, Russia, Iran, Thailand, Japan, Oman, Indonesia and others. Yemen and Pakistan enjoy close relationship and during the last few years, four Heads of the State of both countries visited each other country. There are about 100 Yemeni students getting higher education in Pakistan including 40 Yemeni students on scholarship of Government of Pakistan.
Dr Baig has sent special messages of greetings to the new President of Republic of Yemen Abdurubbuh Mansur Hadi and Foreign Minister Dr Abu Baker Abdulla Al-Qirbi. On this auspicious occasion newspapers have published special supplements carrying the message of PM of Pakistan & Foreign Minister of Yemen. Foreign Minister of Yemen Dr Abu Baker Abdulla Al-Qirbi had sent special message of greetings to CG of Yemen Dr Mirza Ikhtiar Baig appreciating his great contribution to enhance the bilateral relationship between Yemen and Pakistan.-PR
