Pakistan reports 34 deaths, 1,808 cases
- The country reported the highest number of deaths since July.
Pakistan reported on Wednesday 1,808 new coronavirus cases, taking the nationwide tally to 349,992.
In the last 24 hours, 36,686 tests were conducted across the country, taking the total number of tests conducted to 4,810,182. Currently, there are 22,088 active cases in the country.
The death toll increased to 7,055 after the country reported 34 more deaths. The country reported the highest-single day number of deaths since July. 1,164 patients are in critical condition.
784 more people have also recovered from the novel virus, taking the nationwide tally to 320,849.
On Wednesday, the National Command and Operation Centre had once again recommended banning all large public gatherings. Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar said that the National Coordination Committee needs consensus from national political leadership across the political spectrum to limit all public gatherings in order to curb the increasing coronavirus cases.
Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood will chair a meeting on Monday to decide about the closure of the educational institutions as the coronavirus positivity rate is rapidly increasing in the institutions.
