Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain on Monday demanded the government to rid the Karachiites and its traders from criminal elements and bhatta (extortion) mafia. Terming it an organised conspiracy to let loose the criminal elements to go scot-free, the MQM leader said. He apprised on several occasions, President, Prime Minister and Rehman Malik about the activities of bhatta mafia and also kidnapping for ransom going on in the city.
Altaf deplored the lack of action against the criminals despite repeated calls and MQM already uncovered these bhatta people before long, but no action is taken against the criminals.
