The Directorate of Prosecution, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is facing the shortage of Prosecution Officer as the provincial government decided to augment prosecution system in the province. According to a spokesman of the Department of Home and Tribal Affairs, KP said that despite recent promotion of officers from BPS-16 to BPS-17, their posting were still pending, which created shortage in the strength of officers in BPS-16.
The directorate has requested the Public Service Commission for expediting the recruitment process of required 28 BPS-16 officers. The spokesman informed that dates for interviews for recruitment has been fixed for September 3 to September 28, 2012. The some officers of the directorate have been promoted to BS 18 and the department has sent formal requisition to Public Service Commission for recruitment of more 24 officers in BPS-16 with the request of issuance of NoC for recruitment of officers on ad hoc basis for a period of one year to overcome the deficiency. The spokesman said that the competent authority has already granted the NoC and the posts of 24 officers on ad hoc basis for period of one year has been advertised and the directorate is intending to fill up the said posts by the end of September positively, which will also enable the directorate to overcome the problem of deficit staffing.
He said that Home and Tribal Affairs Department is taking solid steps to province, so that both the investigation and prosecution wings may be simultaneously able to work in a close co-ordination and friendly atmosphere to achieve increase in conviction ratio and decrease crime rate. He said that the Director General Prosecution KP Muhammad Arif Khattak after assuming his charge is striving to reactivate the directorate.
General of Prosecution on war-footing and is working with entire staff round the clock to augment the prosecution in the province to streamline it on modern scientific lines. He said that 77 computer systems along with 27 fax machines have been acquired on priority by the Directorate General Prosecution, which are being distributed amongst the total 25 Districts of KP followed by staffing for the offices of the District Public Prosecution on need basis to equip it for the purpose of computerisation of cases and record.
