RafhanMaize is an affiliate of Ingredion Inc; one of the world's leading corn refiners. RafhanMaize produces high-quality food ingredients and industrial products derived from Maize (corn) refining. These products are being used in more than 50 types of industries in Pakistan and international markets.
The wide range of starches, sweeteners and animal nutrition ingredients are supplied to the textile, paper, food, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, beverages, bakery, confectionery, poultry/cattle feeds and edible oil industries.
The development of spring maize crop, as a second crop, through Contract Maize Farming Program is a great contribution and has given tremendous boost to maize production. RafhanMaize is pioneer in hybrid maize seed production in Pakistan and provides good quality seed to the farmers at an economical rate.
The products of RafhanMaize are manufactured under Total Quality Excellence to match international standards. The Company has won preferred supplier status among customers by focusing on quality, customer service and solution provider approach. Technical Centre at Company's headquarters is responsible to develop new products to cope with changing customers' needs for industrial and food ingredients and their functionalities in different industries. RafhanMaize has achieved certifications in ISO-9001:2000, QMS, ISO 14001:2004, EMS, OHSAS 18001:2007, FSMS 22000:2005 and Halal.
RafhanMaize is also one of the major exporters of corn derived products to the international markets in Asia Pacific, Africa, EMEA and other regions. The Company believes that there are substantial opportunities in the global market and can develop reasonable share in export markets. Last year, export volumes almost doubled despite economic slow-down in the international market, high costs and competition from other regional players. For the first time in the history of RafhanMaize, the Company successfully exported special type of modified starches to the USA.
RafhanMaize has recently commissioned third green field corn refining Mehran Plant at Kotri. This state of art facility was built with total technical and operational expertise of Pakistani engineers and professionals. Mehran Plant is producing high tech starches, sweeteners and Animal Nutrition ingredients. Since Kotri plant will be using maize as major raw material, hence there was a need to introduce maize sowing in the Sindh cropping pattern. The Company effectively introduced two maize crops a year in Sindh; provided technical skills, arranged training sessions and made contract with farmers to cultivate Maize. This effort has increased income of the farmers with highly cost effective farm to market facilities including, provision of high quality seeds, field services and guaranteed procurement of crop. The plant has provided direct employment opportunities to hundreds of young and aspiring professionals; mostly from Sindh besides indirect employment to thousands of people in different support services.
