Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan has launched the "Sehat Ka Ittehad" programme here on Friday, aiming at to eliminate polio from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Fata. This special programme is a joint venture of provincial government, army and the federal government. While addressing the launching ceremony Imran said, "The main purpose of this programme is to eradicate vaccine-preventable diseases specifically polio from the region.
He said that Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mehtab Abbasi has also dedicated his full support to the programme whereas international organisations like Unicef, Bill Gates Foundation, WHO and UAE government have also contributed their support. While commending the successful "Sehat ka Insaf" programme launched last year, Imran said the world lauded the project whereas an international film was also made to recognise the effort.
Imran further said "Sehat ka Ittehad" will also target people residing in the tribal areas including Khyber Agency and North Waziristan while polio workers, party workers and volunteers are all contributing their efforts, he added. PTI chief said the better changes would be seen in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in next three months as the provincial government is working on health, education and other basic issues. PTI is taking steps for better health facilities for the people of KP, he added.
