Android reportedly creating phone that will text for user

Foldable phones are said to be the upcoming future of smartphones, however, the creator of Android might now make a smartphone that can type and text emails for the user.

The creator of Android, Andy Rubin’s consumer electronics startup Essential Products Inc., is working to make a phone that will integrate AI and will double as an assistant in order to learn user’s behavior and be able to respond to messages on their behalf, reported Bloomberg.

The new device is expected to be different than the current phones present in the market. The phone will reportedly have a relatively small screen and it will operate via voice commands. The AI software of Essential’s phone will be able to answer text messages and emails, book appointments, and make calls all on its own without the need for user input.

As per Rubin, the goal for this smartphone will be to help those with smartphone addiction. The company has reportedly given up other projects to work on this upcoming phone after its Essential Phone failed to be a hit among consumers.

Sources familiar with the product informed Bloomberg that the firm aims to have its first prototype ready by this year’s end and might introduce it at next year’s Consumer Electronics Show in January 2019.
