Leader of the opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah has asked the Prime Minister not to put democracy and other institutions at stake for personal sake. Talking to the media here on Sunday, the opposition leader warned if the Prime Minister did not change his attitude there could be dangerous consequences. He said the letter of the Qatri prince would have no legal value if he failed to appear before the JIT.
The opposition leader said if the letter of the Qatri Prince is accepted then every one involved in black money and money laundering would produce similar letters to save their skin. He said in the wake of the statements coming out from Ministers, it has become clear that those named in Panama case are vitiating the atmosphere. He said those involved in Panama case cannot hoodwink the people. He was of the view that the government wants to repeat the past mistake by obstructing justice.
Syed Khursheed Shah said while the government is demanding to make details of the JIT investigation public, then why it is not disclosing the contents of the 10 year agreement with Pervez Musharraf. He said the Peoples Party did not attack the courts, despite remaining at the receiving end in the court verdicts and as a result they went to the gallows and lost the Prime Ministership. Khursheed Shah said Nawaz Sharif did get relief from the judiciary several times in the past and despite this the government has tightened belt for contempt of court.
