German firm introduces world’s first 3D-printed electric motorcycle

Where electric motorcycles have already been manufactured, a company has taken a new approach by introducing the world’s first completely 3D-printed electric motorcycle.

A German-3D printing firm BigRep made an innovative fully functional motorcycle called the NERA electric motorcycle, which is not only electric but is also entirely 3D printed.

Harley-Davidson debuts its first electric motorcycle

The bike was printed in 15 pieces and runs on an electric engine embedded in the back rim. The battery of the bike is housed within the body. Apart from the bike’s electrical components, everything was 3D-printed from the scratch. This included its tires, rims, frame, seat, and fork (part that connects the front wheel and axle to the frame). Also, the motorcycle contains airless tires, a rhomboid wheel rim and flexible bumpers. The vehicle can reach top speed of up to 40km/h.

However, unfortunately for many, the bike is not for sale. It is just a ‘use case’ example for the firm to show off its material-making sale, reported Mashable.
