Despite defeat, Imad Wasim still believes Pakistan has a shot at World Cup
Despite a humiliating loss at the hands of India and World Cup chances looking grim, Pakistan bowling all rounder Imad Wasim is optimistic that the side ‘still has a chance’.
“This was a really, really disappointing result for us,” he said, quoted PCB. “When we came back on after the rain there was very little we could do, but we know we have four matches left and if we win those, we still have a chance," he said.
“Results of the other countries may come into play. From our point of view, we can only do what we can. What is in our hands is to try to win all four games and take it from there,” he added.
Imad was the only performer for Pakistan in a one-sided contest against the arch rivals. The off spinner was handy with the ball with his relatively tight bowling and hit a spirited 46 not out from 39 balls albeit on a losing cause.
Speaking about the expected changes in the squad, Imad took a laid-back view to selection. “That is not up to me, it is up to the captain and the coach,” he said.
Pakistan would next face South Africa on 23 June Sunday at Lords.
