The Karachi Port handled 91,142 tonnes of cargo comprising 66,744 tonnes of import cargo and 24,398 tonnes of export cargo including 3,404 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargos of 66,744 tonnes comprised of 30,017 tonnes of containerised cargo; 359 tonnes of bulk cargo; 22,093 tonnes of DPA and 14,275 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 24,398 tonnes comprised of 15,986 tonnes of containerised cargo; 8,412 tonnes of clinker and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 3,404 containers comprising of 2,205 containers import and 1,199 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 429 of 20's and 837 of 40's loaded while 10 of 20's and 46 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 401 of 20's and 362 of 40's loaded containers while 70 of 20's and 02 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were seven ships namely Beijing Bridge, Hyundai Busan, Diyala, Bochem Mumbai, Dong Ting Hu, Mana and Da Cai Yun carrying containers, oil tanker, clinkers, mogas and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were five vessels carrying four containers and one oil tanker respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 148,688 tonnes comprising 144,717 tonnes of import cargo and 3,971 tonnes of export cargo including 3,228 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargo of 144,717 tonnes includes 50,743 tonnes of coal; 8,512 tonnes of LNG; 14,500 tonnes of palm oil; 3,101 tonnes of soyabean; 10,500 tonnes of chemical and 57,361 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 3,971 tonnes includes 3,971 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,228 containers comprising of 3,019 containers import and 209 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

There were two ships namely CPO Bremen and SDTR Bellona and carrying containers and coal respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while six more ships namely MSC Giulia, Telon, Bel Atlantic, Ginga Sarkar, Milaharas Laffan and Chemroad Nova carrying containers, coal, chemical, LNG and palm oil respectively expected to sail on Monday afternoon.

A total number of eight vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, soyabean, chemical, LNG and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as seven vessels viz. Seamax Bridgeport, Da Cai Yun, Pan Crocus, Young Harmony, Shan Dong Fu Xin, NCC Sdair and Stena Immortal carrying containers, general cargo, coal, canola and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were eight ships viz. Seamax Bridgeport, Maersk Hartford, Da Cai Yun, Pan Crocus, Young Harmony, Shan Dong Fu Xin, Uleriken and Stena Immortal carrying containers, general cargo, coal, canola, chemical and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Grains and Furtilizer Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Tuesday.

There are two ships namely Maersk Hartford and Uleriken carrying containers and chemical respectively due to arrive on Tuesday, while another ship namely MOL Grandeur carrying containers is due to arrive on Wednesday.
