Amin urges parties to seek formula for permanent peace in Karachi
ISLAMABAD: Minister for Commerce, Makhdoom Amin Fahim on Wednesday urged all the political parties including Mutahida Qaumi Movement, Awami National Party and Pakistan Peoples Party to sit together for seeking permanent solution of holding peace in Karachi a business hub of the country.
Talking to a private television, the minister said that all the political forces including Mutahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Awami National Party (ANP) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) should sit together for evolving a comprehensive strategy so that the peaceful atmosphere of Karachi could be brought back for speedy progress and prosperity of the people of this area.
"It is not the responsibility of a single party to maintain law and order in Karachi, " he added.
The Minister said, "It is the duty of every political party to jointly address the common issues confronting the people and seek a formula acceptable to all the forces working for holding peace in Karachi."
Makhdoom Amin Fahim stressed the need for constituting a strong and viable formula for ensuring peace and tranquility in this big city (Karachi) of the country.
Replying to a question regarding Swat like operation in Karachi, the minister said that all major parties including ANP, MQM and PPP should hold talks on the issue of target killings and other incidents and develop a consensus acceptable to all stakeholders so that permanent solution of this problem could be evolved for the larger interest of the people.
Shifting responsibility to the sitting government is not fair, he said.
He said that PPP government is making all out efforts to meet the challenges confronting the nation and all important steps are being taken to achieve the objectives.
