ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pervaiz Rashid represented Pakistan at the 4th International Cultural Forum, held from December 13 to 16 in Saint- Petersburg, Russia.
According to a press release received here, the minister had a busy schedule of interactions with other delegations and participating in all important events, functions and ceremonies.
Pervaiz Rashid participated in the opening ceremony of the 4th International Cultural Forum in Saint Petersburg, inaugurated by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The Russian President expressed hope that the forum would "be another step toward consolidating high moral principles and aesthetic tastes in society" because culture always "creates higher goals and moral ideals and leads people toward the right path in finding the purpose of life".
The Minister attended the awarding ceremony of philanthropists and art patrons, held in the Museum of Enthography in Saint- Petersburg on December 14.
He also had informal talks with Russian minister for culture Vladimir Medinsky and his Deputy Alla Manilova during the opening ceremony of the exhibition,"Territory of Culture" on the occasion of 70th anniversary of UNESCO.
The Information Minister lauded the high standards of Russian artists, arts and culture having a long history of par-excellence and expressed his firm belief that Pak-Russia relations will continue to increase and expand in all the fields of art, culture and education for mutual benefits of both the nations.
Pakistan and Russia already have agreement on cultural cooperation between both the countries. The minister expressed his satisfaction over smooth and continuous collaboration between various Pakistani and Russian educational institutions, art organizations and academies, like Academy Of Letters of Pakistan, Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow State University, Quaid-e-Azam University, Russian State University for Humanities, University of Punjab etc.
On December 15, Minister Pervaiz Rashid took part in the Ministerial Business Breakfast meeting. Minister for Information of Kuwait Salman Sabah Al-Salem, Minister for Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan, Abdulfaz Kharayev, Minister of Culture of Iran, Ali Jannati and others attended the Business Breakfast.
In the evening of December 16, the Minister attended the closing ceremony of the Forum wherein the year 2016 was declared as year of Russian cinema.
