The students of the National Textile University (NTU) have announced that they will set up a hunger strike camp in front of Parliament House during the coming National Assembly session to protest against the introduction of self-assessment scheme and the increase in number of seats by the NTU management.
Talking to newsmen, the office-bearers of the Students Action Committee said they had been agitating against callous policies of the NTU management for the last one-and-a-half months, but the authorities concerned were playing the role of a silent spectator.
They pointed out that they had met federal industries minister, the Punjab governor and MMA leader Liaqat Baloch, but all their efforts had so far been proved futile, while a number of parliamentarians had assured them of putting their matter on the assembly floor.
They claimed that the NTU staff members had also assured them of their full co-operation as they had also been on strike for the last one-month. They vowed to continue their struggle till the acceptance of their demands.
