80 percent Sindh flour mills closed

Pakistan Flour Mills Association (Sindh Zone) claimed on Tuesday that 80 percent flour mills had pulled down their shutters due to deep wheat crisis in the province.
The Association has made an appeal to authorities in Islamabad to intervene and take some effective steps for regular supply of wheat to the flour millers.
The Association also admitted that prices of flour have touched the figure of Rs 17 per kg.
The present circumstances had pushed the prices, they added.
The price of wheat, according to the association, has gone up from Rs 930 to Rs 1115 per 100 kg bag. But the commodity is still not available at this rate.
The association is of the view that flour being supplied by Punjab to some parts of Sindh will create problems for the mills in Sindh.
The crisis is very deep and the provincial government does not seem to be able to overcome these difficulties.
