Karachiites continued to suffer from prolong load shedding amid hot and humid weather on Tuesday as KESC failed to meet the city's power supply demand.
A large number of complaints about repeated interruption in power supply from various localities of the city were received on Tuesday. Badly affected areas included Burns Road, Sindh Secretariat, Garden East, Gurumandir, North Nazimabad, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Clifton, Sindhi Muslim Society, etc.
People from different parts of the city complained that despite their repeated calls to KESC's complaint centres no one bothered to address the problem.
However, when KESC's spokesman was contacted to explain the situation he mentioned that due to breakdown of two of KESC's circuits near Jamshoro on Tuesday evening, the city had cut off from Wapda supply.
He pointed out that out of the total power demand of 1975MW, 500MW was supplied to the city by Wapda which had been suspended due to breakdown of two circuits. This shortage of 500 MW had forced KESC to carry out feeder-wise load-shedding on rotational basis to meet the shortage which had affected the power supply of various areas of the city.
He hoped that one of the circuit was expected to be repaired till 9pm on Tuesday after which the situation would considerably ease out as the restoration of supply from this circuit would leave the shortage to only 250MW.
