Saarc Secretary General Q.A.M.A. Rahim here on Tuesday discussed with Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri the follow-up action to the decisions taken at the 12th Saarc Summit held in Islamabad in January.
The foreign minister appreciated the secretary general's efforts to focus on Poverty Alleviation Programme of the Saarc.
He expressed the hope that the Committee of Experts on South Asia Free Trade Area (Safta) would be able to make progress in addressing various outstanding issues for the successful launch of the Framework Agreement on Safta in January 2006.
Kasuri said that positive and congenial atmosphere during the summit in Islamabad had contributed to a fast pace of Saarc-related activities by member states.
He expressed the confidence that South Asian Region would see greater co-operation during Pakistan's chairmanship of Saarc as Pakistan is determined in strengthening of the Saarc process.
