Once again the poultry prices have gone beyond the reach of the middle class families and only the privileged class can afford it.
In the recent past, the reports of chicken flu had reduced the prices by more than 100 percent.
Chicken meat was selling at Rs 60 or Rs 70 per kg. Abruptly, the prices have touched the figure of Rs 140 per kg.
Poultry dealers said that the price hike would go up unabated and nobody could stop it. They said that the fear of bird flu has disappeared and the poultry farms, which had reduced stocks, were trying to meet their losses they suffered in the past by increasing the prices.
They said that the prices might come to a reasonable level when the poultry farms are again full of the stock of birds. But it will take some time rather six months to one year.
Mutton is ranging between Rs 225 and Rs 250 per kg. Fine quality fish price is ranging between Rs 250 and Rs 300 per kg.
Fish dealers said that as the fine quality fish was exported, therefore, the price hike could not be controlled.
Butchers are unable to say anything. They say the privileged class in Pakistan is enough for their profit earning.
The newly born or upcoming population in Pakistan will never have the taste of the mutton, particularly of the general public.
Pakistan is an agricultural country. The development of animals, fish and poultry belong to this sector.
The crises in the agriculture sector are not hidden from anybody. Bread is not easily available.
Milk is selling at Rs 25 per kg. Yogurt price is Rs 38 per kg.
