Qasim Zia, head of Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarian (PPPP) Punjab and Leader of Opposition in Punjab Assembly, addressing a meeting of parliamentarians of his party in Punjab Assembly, has said that with political uncertainty reaching apex point, fresh elections in the country were inevitable.
The leader demanding President Musharraf to put off his uniform, said that Chief Election Commissioner should be appointed with the consent of opposition in the country.
Answering a question about return of head of PML-N Shahbaz Sharif he stated that it would not effect politics of his party. Dilating about nature of his party's contact with the government he stated that no compromise in principles were made in it.
Rana Aftab MPA intervening on the occasion stated that there was lack of good governance in the Province. He while criticising Police Order 2002 put objections on devolution programme being enforced in the country.
He criticised the government for its involvement in bye-elections in the Province.
Qasim Zia continuing with his assertions stated that increased harmony between provinces and issue of provincial autonomy got more perplexed during tenure of present government, he added.
In a number of resolutions passed on the occasion, criticism was lashed at higher rate of unemployment, process of retrenchment of labour and denial of their rights.
Through a resolution, PPPP lamented deteriorating law and order situation in the country.
The meting also demanded freeing of political prisoners including Asif Ali Zardari and MNA Javed Hashmi on the occasion.
In other resolution PPPP Parliamentary Party, demanding of getting rid of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) asked relief for masses in coming provincial as well as federal budgets.
The meeting through a resolution showed its rejection of recent increase of water rates in the City of Lahore.
Naheed Khan a senior leader of the party was present on the occasion. Meanwhile, matters pertaining to party's organisational affairs were discussed in a meeting of Punjab Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarian (PPPP) Executive Committee here Wednesday.
The meeting endorsed the decision of Alliance for Restoration of Democracy decision to accord rousing reception to Shahbaz Sharif during the meeting. Qasim Zia head of PPPP Punjab chaired the meeting.
