Brazil exported 1.48 million 60-kg bags of green coffee in April, down 21 percent from 1.87 million bags a year ago, due to a smaller crop in 2003, the Council of Green Coffee Exporters of Brazil (Cecafe) said on Friday.
Exports were also down sharply from the 2.14 million bags shipped in March.
Arabica beans made up 1.46 million bags of April's green coffee shipments and conillon (robusta) made up the remaining 23,127 bags.
Exports of soluble coffee totalled 287,339 bags, bringing the overall total to 1.77 million bags, down 14.7 percent from the 2.07 million bags shipped in April 2003.
