Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) on Saturday claimed Friday's attack on mosque inside Sindh Madressatul Islam Karachi was not a "suicide attack" as no Muslim can dare to carry out such activity in a mosque.
"That explosion was carried out by US agents who want to divide Muslims on sectarian basis. Sindh government has completely failed in controlling law and order and on his failure, Sindh Home Advisor should resign," MMA Sindh President and MNA Asadullah Bhutto told a news conference at Idara Noor-e-Haq Karachi.
Other MMA and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) leaders Dr Khalid Soomro, Allama Hassan Turabi, Allama Qanber Abbas Naqvi, Maulana Abdul Karim Abid, Maulana Muhammad Afzal Sardar, Hashim Siddiqui Advocate and Dr Merajul Huda Siddiqui were also present.
He alleged that Muttahida Qaumi Movement has planned to rig May 12 by-elections in the province, especially in Karachi by terrorising voters.
"It is evident from the transfers of Town Police Officers (TPOs) and SHOs, which is clear violation of Election Commission's orders," he added.
Commenting on Friday's suicide attack on mosque, he said that it was a conspiracy against Islam and Muslims of Pakistan and by doing so, US agents were trying to create rift and shatter inter-sectarian harmony among Muslims of Pakistan.
"Friday's attack on mosque was not act of any suspected suicide bomber and government by declaring it an act of some maniac, is trying to divert investigations from actual perpetuators," he alleged and demanded of the government to provide compensation to victims of the blast and arrange treatment of injured.
He said that MMA is strongly against the postponement of by-elections and holding by-elections in a fair, peaceful and transparent manner is the responsibility of the government but acts of Muttahida Qaumi Movement are aggravating the situation.
"We have met Chief Election Commissioner and Sindh Chief Secretary Dr Mutawakkil Qazi and presented him recommendations and our demands to hold elections freely," he said adding that MMA demands army to be deployed at polling stations on May 12 by-elections.
He further demanded of the government to cancel transfers of TPO Latif Siddiqui and several other SHOs, saying Muttahida was clearly violating ECP's orders.
Dr Khalid Soomro said the Sindh Home Advisor was treated by angry protestors Friday's bombing indicates that even relatives of dead and injured knew who carried out the attack in the mosque.
Allama Hassan Turabi challenged government that Friday's attack was not a suicide attack, saying by declaring it an act of suicide bombing government is trying to protest actual perpetuators.
He claimed that Shias were only targeted because they were part of Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) but Shia community is ready to pay more prices for unity among Muslims.
