Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad has said the government is well aware of the problems of journalists, and a proposal is under consideration for establishment of journalist societies in each district of Sindh.
He stated this while talking to a journalists delegation which called on him at the Governor's House on Friday.
Replying to a question about Wage Board Award, the governor assured that he would co-operate in this regard as fast as possible within the relevant law.
Dr Ibad pointed out that media had never been as independent as it was today. However, keeping the obtaining conditions, it is the responsibility of journalists to perform their obligations in a positive manner.
He said the press is a pillar of democracy which needs to be strengthened.
He described the media role in present day situation as more important, saying journalism is not the name of just conveying news, but to ensure that correct facts are provided to people.
To a question regarding mosque bomb blast, the Sindh governor said it was no doubt an open terrorism abhorred and inhuman act which deserve condemnation to any limit.
