Sindh chief secretary takes notice of power crisis
Sindh Chief Secretary, Dr Mutawakkal Kazi, has taken strict notice of ongoing power crisis.
He reminded the KESC authorities to rid the citizens of unnecessary power suspensions as per the strategy, adoption of which was stressed in the May 1 Crisis Management meeting, held to overcome the defective power supply system.
Kazi referred to the recommendations which had come under consideration in the backdrop of monsoons and summer.
In the light of the same, there remains no plausible reason for power crisis leading to unannounced loadshedding, he said and added that the difficulties being faced by consumers in this regard, need proper redressal.
He emphasised that power supply system should be so effective, that consumers does not face any problem.
He also expressed concern with regard to seriousness of water shortage and directed the KWSB to use generators for power in areas where water shortage has assumed more serious situation.
For water supply, he directed, fool proof distribution and regulatory system be adopted.
Meanwhile, showing displeasure over supply of contaminated water in Gulshan-e-Faisal, Bath Island and called upon the KWSB to immediately take corrective measures.
He called for a report from Local Government department and DCO Karachi in this regard within 2 days.
Dr Kazi also issued directive for overcoming the problems in Hussain D. Silva Town, Orangi, Baldia, North Karachi, Khokhrapar, Korangi no 6 and other city areas faced with water shortage and contamination.
He stressed on patrolling by Rangers and continued monitoring of the situation.
