Cathay Pacific Airways top travel agent award went to American Express Travel Related Services and top cargo agent to Universal Freight System at the annual agent award 2003 held here recently, a press release issued here on Saturday said.
Cathay Pacific's General Manager for Pakistan, Afghanistan and CIS, Darayus Happy Minwalla, congratulated the winners of the top agent award and reaffirmed Cathay Pacific's commitment to Pakistani market.
The airline industry today is a global operation and providing travel and comfort to all its clients would not be possible without the support and dedication of travel and cargo agents.
"These awards are a small token of our appreciation for the hard work and commitment of all our agents during the previous year," he said adding that by establishing direct air links between Karachi, Hong Kong and now Beijing, Cathay feels that it has achieved a great milestone and managed to strengthen tourism and forge better trade ties between Pakistan, Hong Kong, China and beyond.
Hong Kong is the gateway to Midland China and Cathay Pacific provides same day connections to China and also to Singapore and Los Angeles. Also since the visa restriction for Hong Kong created by the Sars episode has been lifted, that is all the more reason for Cathay to celebrate, he said.
