Owners of petrol pumps are establishing Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) filling stations in the city without obtaining proper no objection certificate (NOC) from the city government.
Giving instance of this increasing problem, Muhammad Nasir Dawood Virani, Nazim Union Council Civic Centre, said that several petrol pumps in the city have established CNG filling stations without obtaining the NOC from the city government.
Giving an example, he said that he has received a complaint against a PSO petrol pump, situated opposite Old Sabzi Mandi, and on inquiry it has been found that the owner obtained no NOC from the city government.
He said that he has issued a notice to the petrol pump owner to appear before him but except for one appearance the owner did not turn up.
He said that he has also issued a notice to the managing director PSO to explain position and give details of the NOC issued by them.
"For establishment of a CNG station, the petrol pump owner requires to obtain an NOC from the city government as well as from CNG supply company," he said, adding, "beside this, CNG filling station can not be established in thickly populated areas or on plots less than 1000 sq meters."
